The staff at the lodge were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The game drives were a highlight, with knowledgeable rangers who allowed us to see a wide range of wildlife. The lodge's location, surrounded by trees and with thick walls, made for a peaceful stay, despite being close to the highway.
The lack of air conditioning in the rooms was a drawback, even though it wasn't too hot during our stay. the absence of WiFi or TV in the Shearer's Lodge was inconvenient.

We had an amazing weekend at this lodge! The surroundings were absolutely stunning, with beautiful views and wildlife roaming around. It was such a treat to wake up and see warthogs right outside our room. The hospitality of the staff was exceptional - they really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The lodge had a lovely veranda where we could relax with a drink and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. The food was also top-notch, with delicious meals served every night. it was a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.
There were a couple of minor issues during our stay. The shower could have had a more powerful water pressure and a new showerhead.

Wildlife immersion. During our stay, we were able to immerse ourselves in the diverse wildlife and stunning landscape of the Amakhala Game Reserve. It was like stepping into a real-life safari movie, with sightings of the majestic Big 5 and other incredible animals like the Black Wildebeest, Cheetah, Giraffe, and Zebra. It felt like being in a wildlife documentary, but with the added perk of being able to witness it all firsthand.
Proximity to highway. The only minor issue we experienced was the proximity of the lodge to the N2 highway.

The decorations in the main lodge were charming and had a lovely African theme. The chairs and sofas were comfortable and perfect for relaxing after a day of game drives. The hotel had a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. I also appreciated the easy accessibility for senior people, with no stairs to climb and plenty of seating areas throughout the property.
I would have liked to see more activities specifically tailored for senior people. Perhaps some gentle nature walks or a dedicated lounge area where we could relax and socialize with other guests.

The decor at the lodge was absolutely charming and had a lovely safari theme. As a senior woman, I truly appreciated the attention to detail and the comfortable seating areas throughout the main lodge. It was also a delight to see the African theme books and board games available, perfect for relaxing moments. The hotel was easily navigable for senior people, with easy access to all the facilities.
I would have loved to see more assistance provided to senior guests, especially in terms of mobility. Perhaps having a dedicated staff member to help with luggage and offer assistance on the grounds would have made it an even better vacation experience for seniors.
